a word association question
« on: March 11, 2008, 04:35:58 PM »

Yes, I do have a reason for this.   Call it research.  :D

I'm sure you remember those old word association games.  Somebody says a word and you reply with the first thing that pops into your head.  I've got a word that I'd like to toss out there, and would love to get your reactions.  Your reaction can be a word or a paragraph.  It can be a first impression or a memory (good or bad, funny or sad, whatever).

The word is:

OZARKS

Ok.  Let 'er fly... ;D

Arkansas. Governor Clinton. Governor Huckabee, presidential campaigns that seem to go on forever. Politics as usual.

A Black-run night club in Great Falls, Montana (a rarity, back then) was known as the Ozark Club, and despite your use of the plural, that's what came to my mind first.

;D White knuckle driving on winding roads with huge drop offs on the sides and no guard rails.  A passenger who keeps saying, "Wow, look at that view!" while you are concentrating on trying  to not drive off the edge.  :o

I've never been, but friends have, and said it was beautiful.

Thanks for your input!  Very interesting.  Since most of my fiction is set in the Ozarks, I was curious as to what thoughts that word stirred up in other people's heads.

Thank you all very much for your help. Since my cozy series is set in the Ozarks, I began to wonder what images that word conjured up in the minds of other people.  Interesting answers. :)

Thanks, again!
