Keeping us on our historic toes again, I see. I believe you are talking about George Peabody who lived in the first half of the 19th century. I only know about him for an odd reason - I lived in Georgia for thirty years and there the familiar name was George Foster Peabody who lived in the second half of the 19th century and early 20th. He too was a philanthropist who supported such radical ideas as votes for women, universal education, and started, what became Warm Springs, a rehab center which FDR bought from him.
