Feeling bad here, you all.  Look, there is no need to buy the book.

Ingrid, Ingrid, Ingrid. You are one of us and have been for a long time. You should know by now that those you can buy your book, will. And those who can't, well, it's not because they wouldn't like to. Telling us about your reviews won't change that, but it does allow us to share your joy. Thank you for that.

I couldn't find the reviews--could you post them here so we truly can share? (I want to pass it on to my friends. Word of mouth is the best marketing tool, IMO.)

Feeling bad here, you all.  Look, there is no need to buy the book. ... So I was just sharing -- and bragging a little bit, maybe.

Ingrid, don't feel bad.  We're a family here and we all want to share in your happiness when your book does well.  It thrills me when I  hear that your books are getting great reviews.

And the fact that you're on this site helping the rest of us who haven't published yet says a lot about you, too - all of it good.

SO ...

Congratulations Ingrid!!!

Congrats, Ingrid.  Starred review, that's terrific.  Hey, if you still have the rejections from major publishers, consider sharing them, and we'll all have a good laugh!

Well, I'm having problems with the site today.  I posted earlier and it seems to have disappeared, so will try again.

I blush.  Thank you.  The PW review is on the amazon site, along with the cover -- finally. I'll post both reviews later on my web site.

I have a dim memory that someone asked about the rejections.  BA was first and painfully rejected by Laura Joh Rowland's agent -- for having too many plots and other inadequacies. I stopped sending it out. St. Martin's Press had 4 books to pick from and rejected DRAGON SCROLL  and BLACK ARROW, saying that BA was the weakest of all.  And recently my Penguin editor made some rather negative comments and suggestions for cuts, forcing me to refuse to make all of the changes -- a dangerous thing to do.  I mention this because reactions are clearly not the same for everyone, and rejections should not make you give up.

Just adding to the chorus of congratulations.  And thanks for sharing Black Arrow's journey to publication.  The publishing biz is such a strange animal- I don't think I'll ever understand how it works.

Don't apologize, Ingrid. Some of us look forward to buying and  reading your books!  :-* I also look forward  ;D to reading books by other people here and enjoy remembering them posting when the work was in progress and what questions and comments were going on then. It gives me a lift.  I actually feel disappointed that there is no forthcoming Tory Baur to look forward to and still feel we are owed 9 more novels in the astrological series.

I never think of self-proclaimed BSP as that, but only as a friendly "heads up." and I think most of us feel the same. In all the years I've been coming to the forum, I can only think of two people who offended by blatantly tooting their own horns: one posted long sections of his WIP in chat and frequently stated he never spent any time reading, he only wrote. The other posted long sections of beautifully written (and possibly plagiarized) prose in the critique section and got offended and argued with anyone who suggested any changes. Since critique is the place where one asks for suggestions....

Both were, I believe, before Ingrid's time.

Congrats Ingrid!  ;) :D ;D

I always like to hear of other writers successes - especially if they have had a hard road with them - it gives the rest of us hope - along with the knowledge that getting published is really a case of - if at first you don't succeed..... etc, etc.

Well done you, can't wait to read it, is it being published in UK/Ireland?

Oh, come on Ingrid - stop apologizing!

Anyone here who buys a book of yours is doing it for his/her very selfish enjoyment!

Penny, who has just finished Dragon Scroll and tried to stretch the reading for as long as possible.

Ingrid,

You must know by now that I buy all your books.  Because I like them.  Just like I was buying all the Hitchcock magazines that ran your short stories, before I relized that you were the person who wrote the stories.  Once a fan, always a fan...

Ingrid

My library is useless!!!!!! >:( :o ::) :'(

I decided to check online if my library Dublin City Library had Black Arrow or indeed any of your past books so I could do some catching up with everone here ... and Nada, Nothing.

Not only that, I checked if they had anything from the other members who I know have published, again nothing. I need one of those smilies to have steam coming out of it's ears!

Vent over, Thinking more rationally. Have any of your books been published in the UK or Ireland?

Sorry, Michele.  I guess Penguin USA doesn't push sales in the UK.  But the books are listed on amazon.uk.
