Title: First ever BSP!
Post by: Angie on December 12, 2006, 01:31:59 AM
More than a little excited here - I've got my first ever short story up over at Spinetingler - http://www.spinetinglermag.com/.  So if anyone's interested, you can check out Big Pussy Gets Whacked.  You can read it online, or download the whole issue.  If you don't like reading small white print on a black background, I'd rec. the download.  Not only is it my first completed short story and first published short story, but I placed as a finalist in the cozy noir contest with it.  Um, yeah.  Like I said.  Excited.

It IS beautifully written, Angie. It's magic, the way you managed to pull it off - the charcters having human attributes while sounding exactly like cats!! I was thinking: This lady really knows cats.

And the final twist for me was - The short bio didn't mention your even having a cat!

Congratulations,
Penny

Thanks everyone!  And no, I'm afraid I'm a dog person more than a cat person.  It's just that cats tend to be more associated with cozies, so that sealed it for me.  Nice to know I did okay with the cat characteristics!

Angie,

Congratulations.  Cute twists and lots of references for mystery fans ("Norbert Doan?"  How many get that one?).

Since it's your first story, remember to enter it in MWA's Robert L. Fish competition.

Check out the MWA website at:

http://www.mysterywriters.org

to find out how.

Congratulations again.  Nothing like your first sale!  May it be the first of many.

I think you're the first, Jim.  My husband is a big Norbert Davis fan and I got a kick out of the Doan and Carstairs books.  Davis isn't well known, but his bio is pretty interesting & he's a fun read.  Thanks also for the contest suggestion and info - will definitely check it out.

Thanks again, everyone!

... If you don't like reading small white print on a black background, I'd rec. the download. ...
Or you can point your mouse at the text, press control, and rotate that little wheel forward, to enlarge the type.  (Sorry, if you don't have the little wheel or if you have a touchpad, I don't know what to do, but maybe somebody else does.)
