This seems like such a silly question. When I stretch after tensing up with pen in hand, I do something with all the fingers of my hands that I don't have a word to describe! It's like stretching out each finger separately and rotating or moving them back and forth, but there must be a word or phrase to describe it and I am 'blanking'. Of course, I was just using that image in my WIP and I'm stumped to describe it. Any ideas from the creative minds of MWF??

Whilst in the forces, the instructor trying to teach us how to type insisted we carry out a series of 'finger gymnastics' prior to the beginning of each lesson. That's what he called them....
