I miss .....
« on: October 10, 2006, 01:38:10 PM »

Not to get me wrong.  I love the new site and all its bells and whistles. The only thing that I miss from the old MWF site was the automatic login. All I have to do was click on the MWF logo and, viola, I was in.  Here I usually browse around a few threads before I realize that I haven't actually logged in (This usually gets me when I try to go to a member's only area).  Oh well, I'll get use to it.  :)

Speaking of the MWF logo, can we preserve it in some manner. I am pretty sure that Lauri holds the copyrite on it. I think it would be neat to have a shirt emblazoned with the logo on it.

Jay,
I don't have to log on...I jump right into the site.  Of course, I can't recall what I did when I first signed up to allow that!  Looking at the 'help' section, it seems that when you log on, you can choose 'forever', and I think that will do it.  Good luck!

I don't have to log in, either. What browser are you using. Firefox is really good with remembering logins.

Jay, when you login, it gives you an option for how long (in a dropdown).  If you pick "forever", you stay logged on.

OK.  I logged with forever and I'm still on.  Thanks for your help.

Hmm!  Strange.  I have to log in at the old site.  But I don't here.

Otherwise, I've thoroughly enjoyed the sudden appearance or reappearance of posters here, when the other site was lagging badly.

I do miss the yellow screen, being somewhat hung up on color.

And I get badly mixed up between the different threads -- which somehow keep shifting every time I post.

Still, so far it's been a lot of fun and Bob is my hero!

Bob, I know it's a lot of work getting something like this organized. I had to do it at the old Delphi backup site, and you've done a terrific job. So I hope you'll forgive me if I make a suggestion: I'd like to see Priceless Advice moved down to the bottom section (Help), because we can't post there, anyway. And I'd like to see Writing Advice moved up to take it's place in General Discussions, where more people will notice it. WA was always one of my favorite (and one of the most active) conferences. It was not just for technical writing advice--it was the place where we discussed general and specific writing issues with our WIPs. Just a suggestion..  :)

Thanks for all your hard work!
