Thanks. That was very good. It proves something I have learned very slowly and painfully. When you get a book published, everything hinges on the publisher's commitment to the book's success. Very few books are chosen. Publishers gamble on that sort of thing and often take big losses. Meanwhile, their income depends on reliable authors in their house or midlist authors who are willing to supply books at nominal advances and don't expect any promotion. Since the heavily promoted authors dominate the buzz and the book store displays, the other authors are pushed to the back and forgotten -- unless, by a miracle (and it takes a major miracle) readers somehow discover them anyway.
