Just Back from Cape Fear
« on: October 30, 2006, 12:54:09 AM »

Hi all,

I just got home today from the Cape Fear Crime Festival. As usual, it was a fun and informative event. Panels were good and sometimes it is hard to chose which to attend because there are always three going on. I was on 2 this year and had to miss a couple I would have liked to attend because they were at the same time. I got to spend some time with Judy Nickles and Steven Torres. I have met Judy on several occasions, but Steven was a new face from the old MWF. I went to one of his panels and he did an excellent job. He said he hadn't been able to find this thread, by the way. He also mentioned Jim as being an authority on police procedurals and what a help he'd been in his writing. If you're ever free the weekend closest to Halloween, you might want to consider coming to Cape Fear. It is a small and intimate conference and I always come away with a lot of new knowledge. This year the major speaker was Kathy Reichs. Others that you may recognize were Sarah Shaber, Michael Malone, and Charles Todd. Our own Judy Nickles is one of the organizers.

Glad you had such a nice time, Lynette. It does sound like a very good conference - helpful and more intimate sounding. Unfortunately it's a bit, er... far for me.

But one can dream...

I keep tellling myself I'm going to go, and then I end up missing this conference.

It does sound like fun, Lynette.
