Had a new experience I wanted to share. Yesterday, I attended a conference on Leopold Sedar Senghor. He was a famous senegalese poet, the first black man to enter the Académie Francaise (guardian of french language).

There I was among people of the trade and it felt wonderful. I was a martian at an alien festival but it made me hope that one day I could be a speaker at one of those things -- well, I'll have to get published first...

What a wonderful opportunity for you! Sounds like you enjoyed it and that it was very beneficial to you as well. Where was the conference held?

The conference was at the François Mitterrand library in Paris (the biggest in France - That was a first too, I never set foot there before... It is huge) The conference was the final event closing the French speaking countries year.
I learned a lot on Senghor. Like a some people, I've heard of him before, knew about his accomplishments; yesterday, I discovered the Man.
The lesson here is : however great he was; he was just a man. But he made it. With hard word an determination he made it to places millions others would have liked to be.
