My space
« on: November 17, 2006, 10:04:50 AM »

Hello everybody,
I had just gotten the hang of the new format when I dropped off the planet again. Or was pushed of by the internet gremlins. So I'm starting all over. with 1500 messages to catch up on.
I'm back in Scotland now, looking at the rain and wind (and sheep), but with a real high speed connection. Wheee!
Do any of you have a Myspace? I was thinking that it would be simpler than fiddling with a website. My website is so feeble I don't even let people know I have one. So I registered on  myspace but now looking at other 'spaces' I see I may have been hasty! And I used my real name. Well, there hardly seems much point in not using it if you want people to find you and your books.
Good to see you all again. Congratuations Kathi!
Peace,
Kathie

Kathi,

I use myspace and a blogger blog to promote my writing. Of course, right now I have no books to hock. but will one day.

My myspace site is pretty basic at the moment, and I've just really started to spend some time with it, but I hope to add bells and whistles gradually.

Myspace allows for a blog, plus you can send bulletins to your "friends" list and quite a few other things, so I see the possibility of some solid self promotion if used correctly.

I am willing to add about anyone to my friends list, so if you are on myspace, send an "add" to www.myspace.com/claythewriter

Glad to see nobody missed me.  Like Kathie, I was offline for 4 days (cable outage).  I have seen comments among bloggers about Myspace, but I ask myself: with everybody blogging and posting on Myspace, how will such an effort actually be noticed?
I know that I'm so pressed for time that I rarely visit blogs any longer except, of course, Sarah's.  I can't keep up with everybody.

Gee, Ingrid.  I was just thinking you were "quiet" because you weren't interested in the subject of posts recently.  Of course, we missed you!   :)

Now that was nice!  Thanks, Susan.  I went into a depression when I couldn't get here.

Oh, I definitely sympathize.  I guess I'm too attached to the web myself, as is my husband.  When cable went down for 3 days a couple of years ago I actually signed up for dial-up temporarily!  (I know...very sick!!)   ;D ;D ;D

PS  Who said you have to be under 30 to be computer-crazed?   ;)

It seems to me that My space does most everything a website does (well, everything MY website is ever likely to do) and does it much simpler. You can post photos, event lists, and blog if you've a mind to. I don't know about links. But it has a sort of frivolous cache' I suppose.
I have really lousy internet access for about six months of the year (and a really lousy computer the other six months.) It's amazing how quickly I kick the habit and how hard it is to get back to it.
