Comfrey ointment & thanks
« on: December 15, 2006, 09:32:02 PM »

A few weeks ago I woke up with a twisted knee and a pulled hamstring muscle (I suspect a 15 pound cat might have aided this operation). Unfortunately, I can't take any NSAID drugs -- a single aspirin will ravage my stomach. I'm stuck with muscle rubs, which weren't helping. But I read about comfrey ointment here. I'm sorry, but I can't remember who suggested it. I was desperate enough to try anything, since this pain wasn't getting better. When I went to the health food store, I found comfrey gel, and I also found a cream I used to use but forgot about, Traumeel. I began using both of them, along with heat. Four days later it's about 90% improved.

Please tell me who suggested this miracle stuff so I can say thanks!

Kris,

I don't know who recommended comfrey to you, though if it was long enough ago it might have been Charlene.  As you found out, it's good stuff. However, I'd like to add Arnica to your list - it is one of the ingredients in Taurmeel and is very handy on it's own.   Comes in sublingual tablets as well as cream.  Besides helping those sore muscles, I find if I get some of the cream on right away after I've walked into something it will prevent bruising.  If the bruise is already there it will help it go away faster.

I discovered Arnica when I gave myself a black eye putting on a bra    ::)

Thanks, Elena. I'll look for it. Hopefully, I won't need any of this stuff soon.

There's obviously a story there.

:-[ I suggested comfrey for Brenda B's son a couple of weeks ago. Kris I'm really glad it worked for you. As Elena said Arnica is very good for bruising. I use it after I've been to the dentist!

My mum is a retired pharmicist who has embraced herbal and homeopathic medicine whole heartedly - so if you have any questions I can pass them on.

Thanks, Michele. That's good to know about Arnica and the dentist. My gums are always so sore after cleanings.
