The Old Site
« on: October 14, 2006, 12:42:41 PM »

Don't take what I'm about to say as a knock on Bob's hard work in such a short time.  He did a wonderful, superlative job, and thank God he did!  But I still find myself checking in at the old site every day.

The last two times there were no new posts.

It's like looking at a house you've just moved out of, a house you loved, that's now empty and vacant preparatory to its being torn down.

Despite the fact that I love the new house, and the neighborhood's the same, I still feel a pang.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Jim.

I check in, too, but mostly to see if we've lost some people.  I bet we will lose some, the ones who don't check in regularly.

Still, I am so very grateful that most of us are not lost.  Think of what would have happened if it hadn't been for Bob.  And I'm sure we've made an immense amount of work for him.  As far as I can tell, he's checked daily to make sure everybody is managing in the new surroundings, and he's also trying to get Byron back. As I said, he's my hero.

Yes, there is a bit of nostalgia when the yellow screen pops up, but I was getting used to seeing "no new messages" even before Lauri announced closure.
