How are murders investigated if the victim is on sand? How do the forensic techs preserve the crime scene?

Welcome...lots of variables to your question. Desert, seashore, time since death occurred, weather. Most crime scenes have things in common and while techniques may vary, the basics are always covered: photographs, secured scene, evidence searches by hand or metal detector, witness statements. I've probably left a few things out since it has been a long time since my last crime scene (1989) but perhaps others here can be more specific. Giving us an idea of what your circumstances will be could help, too.

Good luck with your story.
