Who writes Hard Boil or Noir?
« on: March 25, 2009, 02:18:19 PM »

Just got an email from a friend, Rick Helms who has a web zine that publishes stories in hard boil and noir. A couple of the stories won the Derringer last year and he said 3 were up for it this year. Thought those of you who write in these fields might want to check it out if you haven't already. He's open to short story submissions and he's a nice guy, but my writing doesn't fit what he publishes. www.backalleywebzine.com. (Let me know if you end up with a story there and I'll be sure to read it.)

Psychologist Rick Helms? I know him. He and I once gave joint presentation for a conference. Actually, he was so fascinating I found myself doing more listening than talking.

Yes, Lee. That's the same Rick. We're in the Carolina Conspiracy together and I've been to several signings with him. He is an interesting guy. The Conspriacy has a function at Myrtle Beach this weekend and he was not only announcing the wins on his webzine, but saying he couldn't make the beach. I love his Pat Gallager series.
