NetZero
« on: December 07, 2006, 11:55:56 PM »

My sister does not have internet connection. I would like to give it to her for a year as a Christmas gift. I can't afford much but I've been checking and see that NetZero is 9.95 per month with a year's committment. My problem is that I can't get through to the people to get a disk or whatever to get her online. Every number I called asked for my number, etc. and I'm not interested in setting it up for myself. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, Lynette

They well may not be set up for gifts.  They're trying to keep their overhead down and gift subscription handling is a different processing effort and therefore adds to costs.

Perhaps not quite as much fun, but you could give her a check for the amount in a pretty card with a message about what it's for and the phone number for her to call.  Or if you have an old CD you could write your message on it with a marker.  If they send something, rather than have the subscriber download the software, it will be a CD.

I don't know anything about NetZero, perhaps someone else does.  For instance I have no idea what their system requirements are, and it would be useful to be sure your sister's computer can handle it.

Good luck,
Elena

Thanks. I was trying to get hold of a disk because my sister lives in a different city and I wanted it so it would be easy for her to load. She is terified of compjters. I guess I'll have to fight the crowds at Wa-lMart.

Hi,  Net Zero does sell gift certificates, if that's any help:
http://ispgift.com/app/start_nz.jsp
There must be some way for the recipient to redeem the silly things.  I didn't look through the site, but there is a list of FAQ.
