Printing Pages of my Ms.
« on: December 14, 2006, 11:17:01 PM »

I use WordPerfect 10.  A few weeks ago, I bought a new printer.  My pages in my WP document don't correspond to the pages I'm printing.  For example, WP shows chapter eight starting on page 69, but when I print, it's page 65.  The formatting looks the same.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Debbie

I'm not sure why this happens.  I use Word.  But I notice that most publishing folk prefer Word.

With WP, it's very simple to change into a Word document.

Yes, but . . .  didn't you say there was a problem?

There's a problem when I try to print specific pages within the document.  This manuscript was started when I had my old printer.  I know printers can change a document--know this from using a document from home at work--but I don't know what to do about it.

Not sure this will help, Debbie, but you might want to look in "print preview" to see if anything looks weird there.  Also, if you can turn on the feature to view all the 'codes' (in Word it is show/hide with a paragraph mark on the toolbar), then you may find some formatting that is otherwise hidden in the normal view.  Also, are the # words per page the same on the screen and when printed?  Maybe the margins are set differently on the printer but the drivers in your computer don't know it.  I am assuming that you installed new drivers with the new printer...you also might want to check whether there are updated drivers at the web site of your printer manufacturer.  Windows XP if you are using it will probably find the newest drivers, but then it might depend on how 'mainstream' your printer is.

I was going to suggest doing a "preview print" (Susan beat me to the punch). It might cause WP to repaginate your entire document with your new printer's settings and so make what you see on the screen match what you get when you print a page.

Thanks Joyce and Susan.  Will try that.
