Title: Getting caught in patterns
Post by: grey_giant on January 28, 2016, 11:39:08 PM
Hi there MWF,

I used to be big into writing short stories for fun when I was in primary school, and now I'm having a shot at picking it back up. I'm into a good rhythm of writing and editing about a story every week (or two). However, the small form factor of the stories mean that they can become a little pattern-prone.
Do you find that your writing can become formulaic at points, such as using the same phrases and structures over and over?
How do you try to shake up your writing and give it a different feel when you get into these patterns?

Thanks!
