New York Police Precincts 1909
« on: April 04, 2020, 11:17:25 PM »

I'm writing a historical thriller set in New York City in 1909. I'm looking for resources on police precincts and arrest procedures and I'm finding a lot of contradictory information. If a murder suspect is arrested at this time near Union Square, which police precinct would be responsible? I've looked at several maps from the late 1800s and early 1900s that seem to give different numbers for the same areas. If the suspect is taken to the station house, how long might he be held there pending investigation? Any information or suggestions for further research would be enormously appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
