Title: There's Probably A Simple Answer
Post by: Lynette on February 12, 2009, 07:08:34 PM
Here I am again. The member of the list who knows the least about technology. Sometimes I'm almost ashamed to say I make my living using a computer because I know so little about them.

That said, here's my problem. Some time ago I wanted to send a special email and I changed the background color. I went under format and chose the background I wanted. Which was fine for that one email. Now I want my white background back. I always have to go under format and change it to white when I write a letter, etc., but I can't get the background to stay white. It still comes back the pattern I used over six months ago. I have no idea how to get the original white back and I've been trying for months. Is there a simple answer? Or even a complicated one? Of course if it's too complicated I won't be able to handle it.

Thanks to you who know what you're doing.

What e-mail program do you use, Lynette?  They will all be a little (or maybe a lot) different.

Here's what Outlook does.  If you have Outlook Express, it will probably be similar but not exactly the same.

In Outlook, go to Tools.  Pick Options.  When the Options box comes up, pick the Mail Format tab.  Under Stationery and Fonts, you can pick a default stationery.  Mine is set to <None>, but I'm guessing yours is set to something other than that.  Pick <None> as your default, and you'd be all set -- in Outlook.

Maybe this will give you a clue even if you're using some other e-mail program.

IT WORKED! IT WORKED!

Bless your heart, Cathy (I am from the South) and thank you so much. I do have Outlook and your clear and simple directions had it done in no time. Someday I may have to break down and take some computer classes so I won't sound so dumb!

Thank you, again.

Lynette,

As a retired professor of Computer Science (in GA) I can assure you that the very best education you can get for your use of your own computer is to keep doing what you're doing - poking around books, mashing keys, and keep asking questions. Befriending someone into computers - around 16 and up is always a handy resource. They frequently can be paid in cookies - the real kind!

You're doing great  ;D
