Thanks from me too, guys. This is so helpful.

I ran across a site on sound in film and TV once. They made the point that real sounds often fail to live up to audience expectations, and most film makers bow to those expectations and dub in the stereotypical dramatic version, rather than use the disappointing real sound. I think they used richocheting bullets as an example.

They also mentioned that loons inhabit wild places all over the world in Cinemaland, whereas they have a much more restricted range in the real world.

Another thanks from me. I haven't zipped over here for a week or two, and just this noon I was working on a scene where a character fires a gun in a office. And now I come over to MWF and here's all this great information. Coincidence? Hmm...
