I like the "Journey" idea, or even something to do with "Journal." "Chronicles" is probably a little over-used, though.

Hmm.  Thanks.  I'm still pondering.  Thought of "Darkness of the Heart" today (kokoro no yami). But that's not quite right either.  Kyoto was called Heian-kyo. DEATH IN HEIAN-KYO?  I could, of course, call it THE INCENSE MURDER AND OTHER STORIES."  "The Incense Murder" is the only brand new story in the collection.  The journal idea is good but the dates spread over 30 years or more.

I like the 'casebook' idea.  Maybe combining that with some of the other ideas would work.  Heian-kyo Casebook.  Nippon Casebook Sakura Casebook...etc.
